The first week of November is gone and that means I’ve made it through the first week of NaNoWriMo and I’m still green. I’ve reached the goal of writing 1.667 words every day to achieve the goal of writing 50.000 words in a month. I’ve even written a little more and it wasn’t as harrowing as I expected it to be. In the end it’s about focusing and prioritizing. I’ve also realized that in my current situation it’s great for me to get a few words written in the morning. I get up quite early while the baby is still sleeping. It’s a good thing that she likes to sleep in at the moment and often doesn’t get up before nine or even ten o’clock. So, I have at least an hour for writing and I feel good the whole day knowing day that I’ve already written 500 to 1000 words, depending on how much time I have.
I had to put my other projects to a stop, because I really wanted to focus on one novel that I started in Nano. It’s a German Urban Fantasy Novel called “Grauzeit” and it’s about a girl who notices that her best friend is missing. And no one else remembers her. It’s fun o write and I especially like the characters. It’s the first time for me to write first person point of view from a girl’s perspective and I enjoy it more than I’d thought.
“Murder and Afternoon Tea”, my cozy crime novel with a gay main character only needs about 8000 more words and I expect it to be finished in December.
I’ve finished editing “Der dreizehnte Prinz“ and right now I’m reading it for the last time, before it goes into correcting. At the moment, it seems that it will be published in January. Sam from Saje Design has created a beautiful cover, that I’m absolutely smitten with and I’m so excited for my first book to be published soon. In fact, I can hardly believe it. I’ve been writing for more than twenty years and now I’m finally taking that step.
Have a good November and stay safe!
